Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 14, 2026
Short Version
SnapDog is designed to work without accounts, analytics, advertising, tracking, or crash-reporting SDKs. In normal use, SnapDogRocks does not receive your room names, server addresses, API keys, playback state, music metadata, or settings. The app talks to the SnapDog server you choose.
1. Controller
The controller responsible for this Privacy Policy is:
Dr. Fabian Schmiederc/o lexICT GmbH

2. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to:
- the SnapDog Client mobile apps;
- the website snapdog.cc;
- the optional demo service at demo.snapdog.cc;
- downloads served from updates.snapdog.cc.
3. SnapDog Client App
The SnapDog Client app can be used without a SnapDog account and without any external service operated by us. In normal operation, the app connects only to the SnapDog server selected by you, for example a server in your home network.
The app may process data locally on your device or with your own SnapDog server, such as:
- server addresses, hostnames, ports, and authentication tokens configured by you;
- room, zone, client, and device names;
- volume, mute, playback, grouping, equalizer, and DSP settings;
- music metadata such as track title, artist, album, playlist, and artwork URLs;
- technical status and error messages from your SnapDog server.
These data are not sent to SnapDogRocks unless you explicitly connect the app to a service operated by us, such as the optional demo described below. The app does not include analytics, advertising, tracking, crash-reporting, or profiling SDKs.
4. Optional Demo Service
You may choose to connect the app to demo.snapdog.cc. The demo exists to help app-store reviewers and users understand SnapDog without running their own server.
The demo uses mock data only. You cannot enter free-form personal content. Interactions such as play, pause, volume, and zone changes are kept in memory and are lost when the virtual machine restarts. The demo application does not write access logs.
To deliver the demo securely, technically necessary connection data may be processed transiently during your HTTPS or WebSocket connection. This may include your IP address, the time of the request, TLS/HTTP/WebSocket metadata, and user-agent or app-version information if sent by your client.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing a secure, functional demo service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The demo is hosted by Render Services, Inc., which acts as our processor under a data processing addendum.
5. Website
The website snapdog.cc is a static website. It does not provide user accounts, contact forms, comments, newsletter signup, analytics, advertising, tracking pixels, or cookies. Fonts are hosted locally; the website does not load Google Fonts from Google servers.
When you visit the website, technically necessary connection data are processed to deliver the page and keep it secure. This may include your IP address, the time of the request, requested URL, referrer if sent by your browser, user-agent, and similar technical metadata.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure and reliable website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The website is hosted by Vercel Inc. on a Pro plan. Vercel acts as our processor under its data processing addendum.
6. Downloads
Downloads from updates.snapdog.cc are delivered through Cloudflare as a CDN. When you download a file, technically necessary connection data are processed to deliver the file, protect the service, and maintain availability. This may include your IP address, request time, requested file, user-agent, and related network metadata.
We do not use these downloads for advertising or user profiling. Cloudflare acts as a processor where it processes personal data on our behalf for the CDN service.
7. External Links
Our website and documentation link to external services such as GitHub, GNU, Creative Commons, Spinorama, or other project resources. These services are not contacted merely because you visit snapdog.cc. They are contacted only if you open the external link. The privacy practices of those services are governed by their own policies.
8. Service Providers
We use the following service providers for hosting and delivery:
- Vercel Inc. for hosting snapdog.cc;
- Render Services, Inc. for hosting the optional demo service;
- Cloudflare, Inc. for CDN delivery of downloads from updates.snapdog.cc.
These providers may process technical connection data as necessary to provide their services, maintain security, prevent abuse, and ensure availability. Where required, we use data processing agreements under Art. 28 GDPR and appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
9. Retention
The SnapDog Client app does not transmit normal-use app data to us. The optional demo keeps mock interaction state only in memory and does not persist it. We do not operate our own analytics or tracking logs for the app or website.
Our processors may retain technically necessary service, security, or abuse-prevention data according to their own infrastructure and data processing terms.
10. International Transfers
Some of our processors are based in, or may process data in, countries outside the European Economic Area. Where personal data are transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses, data processing agreements, and the providers' technical and organizational measures.
11. Your Rights
Subject to the conditions of the GDPR, you may have the right to request access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection to processing based on legitimate interests.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent data protection supervisory authority. To exercise your rights, contact us at hello@snapdog.cc.
12. App Store and Play Store Notes
SnapDog Client is intended to work without collecting personal data for SnapDogRocks in normal use. The app does not track users across apps or websites and does not sell or share personal data for advertising.
If you choose to use the optional demo service, only technically necessary connection data are processed transiently to provide the connection. The demo contains mock data only and does not accept personal content.
13. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy when SnapDog, our infrastructure, or applicable legal requirements change. The date at the top of this page indicates the latest version.
